Poutine with Umami Gravy
Poutine is a hallmark of Quebec cuisine, and increasingly popular within the United States. In this recipe our savory Umami Starter is used to elevate traditional brown beef gravy, lending the dish a deep, savory richness.

2 cups Fresh or frozen french fries
1 cup Cheese curds
1 cup Beef gravy
1 packet of Umami Sauce Starter
6 cups deep frying oil
To taste Kosher salt
Heat the cup of beef gravy on medium heat, and whisk in the umami sauce starter. Simmer for 3 minutes, add a tablespoon or so of water if sauce is too thick. Keep aside hot.
In a Dutch oven or deep fryer, heat the oil to 350F. Fry the French fries until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove on to a plate lined with paper towels. Season with kosher salt to taste.
Plate French fries, generously ladle umami gravy over them, and liberally cover with the cheese curds. Serve hot.
