Spicy Chicken Piri Piri


Portuguese Piri Piri is sweet, smoky and addictively spicy. This recipe uses our Piri Piri Sauce Starter as both a marinade and sauce for tender chicken legs.


Prep time: 10 min-overnight | Cook time: 30-40 min | Serves: 4-6




  1. Combine 1/2 cup boiling water with Piri Piri Sauce Starter to create sauce. Let cool. Stir in oil and reserve 2 Tbsp of marinade.

  2. Place chicken in large plastic bag or glass dish, add remaining marinade, and turn to coat well.

  3. Refrigerate for a minimum of 30 minutes or overnight. Remove from marinade.

  4. Grill, broil or bake until cooked thoroughly, basting with reserved marinade halfway through cooking.
