Piri Piri Grilled Chicken


Portuguese Piri Piri is sweet, smoky and addictively spicy. This recipe uses our Piri Piri Sauce Starter as a marinade and extra sauce.


Prep time: 4.5 hrs | Cook time: 30-40 min | Serves: 4-6




  1. Stir together ½ cup Piri Piri Sauce Starter with ½ cup warm water and let stand for 5 minutes to “bloom” the dry ingredients. Add ½ cup olive oil to the sauce starter paste and blend in a mini food processor or with a hand held stick blender until smooth.

  2. Place chicken legs in a sturdy zip lock plastic bag and cover with the prepared Piri Piri Sauce Starter.

    Allow this to marinade for 4 to 12 hours.

  3. Cook chicken over a medium hot grill to 165° internal temperature and serve. Excess marinade can be brought to a boil and served as extra sauce.
